Planting Season

Since March 20, the weather has been sunny and cold or rainy and cold. It is not much of spring weather this part of the country is used to. Yesterday was the first beautifully warm day we have had all Spring! Tony's Spring vacation was at a different time than ours, so he took advantage of it and went with some of his friends to Atlantic City for the weekend. Nicholas, Michael and I took advantage of the warm weather to plant some flowers that Aunt Dina gave us for an early anniversary gift. We planted foxglove, winter creepers, astilbe, white and pink bleeding hearts, and I don't remember the other names of the plants. I couldn't take pictures because my hands were wet and dirty! It doesn't look like much, only some dirt with buds sticking up. As the garden grows, we will take pictures and post them.

You got the headstart on us. John just barely got some tomato plants and we have yet to get them in the ground.

I thought vegetables were not supposed to be planted until Mother's Day? or is that only in our neck of the woods?

Mother's Day is a good rule of thumb for vegetables that you transplant. You can plant seeds for spinach, carrots, peas as soon as the ground is workable. (This is what Grandpa has told me.)
