Concert Season

Most schools that I know of have winter concerts in December. Someone in their infinite wisdom decided that December was just too full of concerts, so "let's move some of those concerts to January so that December is not too stressful". Well, now our January has been filled with concerts! Nicholas had his school concert this past Monday, Tony had a chamber concert last Tuesday, Nicholas was part of a String Festival this past weekend, and Nicholas' chamber orchestra is performing for his school's board of education meeting. Last but certainly not least, Michael's orchestra will be performing at the end of this month. Whew! Here are a few highlights from Nicholas' concerts:

Here is the program from Nicholas' school concert.

Nicholas is the concertmaster in his 7th grade orchestra.

This is the song "Cakewalk" by Norman Leyden from 'Serenade for Strings'

The orchestra is made up of the best of the string students from 44 different school districts. Nicholas was the only 7th grader chosen from his school. There were about 5 other children from other grade levels selected as well. Nicholas is playing in the first violin section. If you look carefully, you can see him in the middle of this picture.

That was really good.

So what do you prefer? One terribly stressful month (December), or two mildly stressful months (December and January)?

I haven't quite decided yet. I suppose that having concerts in both months is preferable.
